Most store-bought leather goods are made with a sewing machine using a "lock stitch." If one thread breaks, the whole thing unzips. But when I sit at my bench and hand-stitch a Chronicler's Cover, I’m using two needles and one piece of thread that crosses over itself. Even if a stitch were to wear through, the rest of the seam stays tight. It takes a lot longer, but I enjoy the process. It’s my favorite thing to make because it requires patience and precision.
